Well, here it is — my first official Thermomix recipe. I’ve just whacked it on Cookidoo.

This is my bolognese. It’s gluten-free, but honestly, even if you’re not gluten-free, just use whatever pasta you normally use and crack on.

It’s a proper family favourite, and I’ve now converted it into a Thermomix recipe so you can enjoy it straight from your TM if that’s how you like to cook.

Nice and simple to follow, nothing complicated.

Yes, it does take a couple of hours if you want it absolutely banging — but trust me, that’s where the flavour comes from. If you rush it, it’ll still be fine… just not next level.

I did a thing… I bought myself a Thermomix.

To be fair, I made the decision about a week ago, it’s just been living rent-free in my head ever since. I actually had one years ago when they first came out… and honestly, I barely used it. Just one of those things.

But this new one? Different story.

The open cooking feature has completely changed it for me. I like to get hands-on, taste as I go, tweak things — proper cooking. Not just pressing buttons and walking away. This feels like I can actually cook again, just with a bit of extra firepower behind me.

And don’t worry… this means one thing 👇 
I’m about to start pumping out video recipes again and updating the website. It’s been a minute.

Life’s been flat out since January. I stepped into a head chef role at a local restaurant, and that’s been full-on. We’re not just running the restaurant, we’re smashing out big functions as well — so it’s been non-stop.

And let’s not forget… I’m not a qualified chef. I’m self-taught. 
So stepping into that role? Bit of pressure. Bit of chaos. But also one of the best things I’ve done.

Learning, growing, figuring it out as I go — and honestly, loving it.

So yeah… welcome to the kitchen, you godly furry little weapon. Let’s see what you can do.

Tonight’s dinner… and thank God for it, because I’ve been absolutely gagging to cook again.

Porthouse steak with a yellow capsicum cream — infused with ginger, garlic, tamarind, and a touch of smoked paprika. Took the capsicum right to that smoky edge so you get that perfect mix of sweetness and char.

Finished it off with a bit of sour cream to round it out.

On the side — Brussels sprouts done with Asian-style flavours, topped with fresh kaffir lime that my legend neighbour Morris dropped off today.

This is looking bloody YUM 🤤🔥

Just found one of the best spots to eat in Perth — Azabu 🔥

Premium Japanese vibes, but don’t stress — you can go all out or mix and match with some really affordable dishes depending on your budget.

Service was next level, heaps of gluten-free options (big tick from me), and honestly… everything was bloody amazing and bloody yum.

Today would have been our son’s (Rye) 18th birthday. We lost him back in 2008 to sudden infant death. 

We’re not the only people who have suffered this—families go through it every day. The pain never truly goes away, and it’s something you never really get over. 

Every year, we try to use this day to raise awareness of SIDS and to help people who are going through what we went through, and what we’re still going through.
